Print readiness/Checks
3D print readiness report (local)
Generate a local print-readiness report for a 3D model in one pass. The Worker parses and cleans the mesh once, then reports topology, bed fit, overhang area, wall thickness and a filament estimate, with a PDF export. The model never leaves this tab.

This report combines local geometric estimates. It is not a slicer simulation; verify orientation, supports and the printer profile before printing.

The file is interpreted in this unit, then every check runs in millimetres. Changing the unit re-runs the report.

How it works
- 1
Drop an STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, GLB, or self-contained glTF file.
- 2
Choose the unit used by the file. The report scales the mesh to millimetres and re-runs when you change it.
- 3
The Worker parses once, welds vertices and checks edge topology plus vertex fans.
- 4
Adjust bed clearance, overhang threshold and thin-wall threshold; those calculations update without another parse.
- 5
Set the filament material and slicer assumptions to estimate weight, length, time and cost.
- 6
Download the PDF report, or use Print PDF for a paper copy.
What the numbers mean
The summary cards are screening signals, not a single pass/fail verdict. A model can be watertight and still have thin walls, steep overhangs, or a poor bed orientation.
Manifold means every edge has two incident triangles and every vertex fan is connected. Watertight adds no boundary edges. Solid winding means the closed surface is consistently oriented outward. Large meshes above the topology cap show the edge checks as not computed.
The bounding box is compared with every listed nominal build volume in all six axis-aligned orientations. Reorienting can make a model fit but may add supports or change strength. Clearance is removed from X and Y only.
Downward faces are measured by angle from vertical: 0° is a vertical wall and 90° is a horizontal ceiling. Faces on the lowest model plane are bed contact, not overhangs. Supports, bridges and slicer behavior can differ.
One inward ray is cast from each triangle centroid and the first opposite hit becomes a local thickness sample. It is a bounded screening estimate, not an exact minimum distance, inscribed sphere, or slicer wall check.
Weight and time assume a solid, watertight model. Shell volume is surface area × walls × line width; infill fills a fraction of the remainder. Time is a throughput estimate with 15% overhead, not a sliced toolpath.
The PDF download is generated locally from the report layout. Print PDF opens the browser print dialog for the same report; the browser controls the printed output.
Wall thickness is limited to 200,000 triangles and overhang analysis to 5,000,000 triangles; topology analysis is limited to 2,000,000 triangles. The report shows which sections were skipped instead of silently downsampling.
Printing notes
- Use the report as a triage step, then confirm the model in your slicer with the exact printer profile.
- A thin-wall result below one extrusion width usually needs a geometry change, not just a slicer setting.
- Reorienting a model can improve bed fit and overhang cost at the same time; compare the best orientation with the support layout.
- If topology is not watertight, run manifold-check and repair the mesh before trusting the volume, wall thickness or filament estimate.
- The filament estimate is intentionally approximate; use the slicer's material profile for purchasing decisions.
