Mesh repair/Topology
Voxel remesh (local watertight rebuild)
Rebuild a broken or self-intersecting mesh as a watertight surface locally. The Worker voxelizes the triangles, flood-fills the outside, builds a signed-distance field and uses Manifold WASM level-set extraction to produce a clean manifold; nothing is uploaded.

Voxel remesh is lossy: sharp edges are rounded and details smaller than one voxel may be removed. Inspect the result before printing.

Higher resolution preserves more detail and uses more memory and time. 64 is a balanced default; 128 is slow and triangle-heavy.
How it works
- 1
Drop an STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, GLB, or glTF file.
- 2
Choose a voxel resolution; 64 is a balanced default, while 48 is faster and 96/128 preserve more detail.
- 3
The Worker marks surface voxels, flood-fills the outside, computes a signed-distance field and extracts a level-set surface with Manifold WASM.
- 4
The output is welded, checked for watertightness and non-manifold edges, and written as a binary STL.
- 5
Download the remeshed STL and inspect thin features and sharp edges before slicing.
What the numbers mean
Surface triangles are rasterized into a voxel grid, the outside is flood-filled, and distances to the surface define a signed field. Manifold WASM extracts a watertight level-set mesh from that field. This repairs self-intersections and many non-manifold defects by reconstructing the surface rather than editing the original triangles.
Resolution is the voxel count along the longest axis. Higher values preserve smaller features but increase memory, time and output triangles. Features smaller than roughly one voxel can disappear; sharp edges and fine text are rounded.
The report shows the voxel size, triangles before and after, the resulting vertex count, watertight/manifold status and remaining self-intersections. A successful remesh is watertight and manifold, but it is a new approximation of the input.
Input is limited to 500,000 triangles and 500 MB. The operation can fail on extremely thin or zero-volume shapes, or when the occupied voxels do not form a clean surface; try a different resolution or repair the source in CAD.
Printing notes
- Compare thin walls, holes and text with the original before printing; coarse voxels can close small gaps or erase details.
- Use 64 for a quick repair and 96 or 128 when the model has fine features that must survive.
- Run manifold-check after remeshing to confirm the reported watertight result.
- Use decimate-mesh afterward if the voxel surface has more triangles than your slicer or workflow needs.
