Wall thickness/FDM
ABS minimum wall thickness check
ABS is more warp-prone than PLA or PETG, so this profile starts at 1.0 mm and recommends 1.6 mm for functional parts, with 2.4 mm for structural walls. It assumes an enclosed printer and a stable chamber, not just a different filament label.

Lower the threshold to inspect a stricter target, or raise it to screen only very thin walls. The profile verdict stays anchored to its published range.
Wall thickness reads model coordinates as millimetres. Scale glTF/GLB models exported in metres before checking.

Guidance range
- Lower limit
- 1mm
- Recommended
- 1.6mm
- Structural target
- 2.4mm
- Assumptions
- 0.4 mm nozzle, approximately 0.45 mm extrusion width, 0.2 mm layers
- Enclosed printer with a stable chamber and controlled cooling
- 3–6 perimeters; large flat walls still need attention to warp

Profile-specific limits
- ABS shrinks as it cools. Thin walls and large flat areas can warp or split even when the mesh passes the thickness check.
- An enclosure, controlled cooling and a brim are part of the process assumption. The checker cannot see chamber temperature or layer bonding.
- Acetone smoothing can hide surface seams but does not make an under-thick wall strong; it can also soften fine details.
Where this profile fits
Use 1.6 mm or more for handled housings. Add ribs to large panels rather than simply increasing a single wall.
For heat resistance and impact, combine the structural wall target with an appropriate infill and print orientation.
Thin decorative shells can use the lower range, but functional connectors and screw bosses need local reinforcement.
Wall-thickness tips
- Preheat the enclosure and use a brim; a wall that passes the mesh check can still lift at the corners.
- Avoid abrupt thickness changes. Add fillets or ribs to spread stress between thin and thick regions.
- Use 1.0 mm as a floor only for protected, lightly handled surfaces; choose 1.6–2.4 mm for functional walls.
